    It can be a milestone like a new addition, a birthday, or a new season of life - or it can just be what I lovingly call an Everyday Legacy. Typical, alternative, neurodivergent, queer, adoptive, foster, blended - all families are welcome here. Sessions are respect-centered and child-led, but with continuous support to collect the child back into the scene and engage them.

I offer a rad hybrid method (crafted over 13 years of shooting portraits) that guides you through what many anticipate will be an awkward experience. Nope! I will put you all at ease, hone in on your connections and personalities, and offer lightly guided poses to help you along. End goal is images that are genuine and intentional but an experience that is unforced, easy, and relaxed.

Kids? Bring ‘em. I have a rambunctious toddler and a neurodiverse big kid - I roll with the chaos. Melt downs? Bring ‘em on. Snacks? Def bring ‘em! Truly though I offer a child-led approach to photographing kids, allowing room to explore, incorporating their ideas, getting more documentary shots alon the way - but always getting some of those more ‘classic’ group shots too.

I offer two types of sessions - a more portrait-driven Classic Session that a bit shorter and you choose 10 images to keep from a proofing gallery, or a more story-driven Full Session that has more time to get into the moments and surprises that unfold between portraits, and includes all edited images. I want it to be easy, fun, and natural. I work hard to make everyone feel at ease, even laughing and relaxing so that their true colours can show through. No stiff poses here, though I can guide you into flattering positions and moments. Think more about me encouraging you to interact with each other, ease into the process, and find joy in between frames. I bring my documentary background to seek out a variety of compositions for you to choose from - wide or tight, laughing or focused, scenic or intimate, classic or artsy, big scenes or small details. Then it’s your choice.

Gently Guided

While I do not do stiff formal poses, I also don’t leave you hanging. I know it’s awkward to be photographed! I feel it too when it’s my own turn in front of a lens. So I am here to guide you - but think prompts over poses, tall tales to get you laughing or interesting questions to get you talking, and little actions to keep you moving, natural, and connected.

Respectful

I don’t subscribe to treating people - or the planet - like props. Whether that is you, a partner, babies or children, my approach is always respectful of the person in front of me - if you or a child is uncomfortable, having a hard time, is neurodivergent, or otherwise needing some support then we go at a pace (and approach) that works for them. Additionally, I believe in respecting this beautiful island! We stay on trails, leave no trace, and find a way to capture the beauty without ruining any of it while we do so.

What Type of Session?

Classic Session

45-60 minutes · 12 images · $425

  • A portrait-focused session. I also call this a “Snapshot” session! Because it’s a snapshot of your family/relationship in this moment/season of life, and also because it’s slightly shorter in time.

  • This is a shorter, sweet, and straight to the point kind of session. Someone might book this session for a milestone like a birthday, a new baby, a new pet, starting kindergarten, an engagement, an anniversary, for budget reasons, etc.

  • My goal for this session is to capture classically gorgeous portraits blended with a strong sense of place. These sessions are more focused on group shots, solid portraits, mixing up combinations of people (if a family), and a few action/unposed/candid shots too. The individual images are strong, perfect for printing, framing, holiday cards, sending to family, or hanging in your home.

  • Although I call them “classic” portraits, they’re not stiff. I still bring my approach of relaxing people into poses and helping you all feel natural and at ease. Also, I do provide a mix of “camera-aware” portraits (looking into the lens) and more natural portraits (looking at each other, or around).

  • This session receives a Proofing Gallery - the images are very lightly retouched to give a sense of the final product. Only the images that you chose and finished and polished off for delivery.

  • This is the session to choose if you are thinking you just need “a few” great photos and are comfortable leaving the rest of the photos behind. (Can be purchased a la carte at $25 per image or $200 for the full gallery).

  • Note that this session can include narrative elements on request.

Full Session

60–90 minutes · All Edited Images · $575

  • A story-focused session. I also called this a “Narrative” session! Because it’s going to become the story of your family/relationship in a big picture kind of way.

  • This is a session that breathes, a narrative and moment-driven session that is designed to go deeper than portraits alone. We spend 60–90 minutes together, as needed, giving space for a natural flow and more variety in what we create. While we’ll pause for some slightly more classic poses, and while I still offer guidance, there is also plenty of time for capturing action, activities, spontaneous connections, curiosity, quiet cuddles, and whatever unfolds between the posed moments.

  • This session is designed for families and relationships who want a whole experience. They want to mark their family’s story beyond a good portrait: who each person is, and who you are together. Who seek creative compositions or moment-driven images, who crave (or need) the extra time to ease into the session and feel relaxed and genuine.

  • Your gallery is designed to be experienced as a whole: a collection that contains many individually strong images but also work together to unfold the story. It will include some more classic portraits (as desired) but it will also include wide scenes, tight details, candids, movement and activity, outtakes, and more that drive the narrative visually.

  • Posing guidance can be as hands on or hands off as you like - ranging from true documentary work to more posed moments, or a blend of the two which I like to call ‘editorial.’ We will work together to plan a session that perfectly reflects not only how your family looks right now, but how it feels to be together. Your family is unlike any other and your story is important.

  • This session receives a full gallery of all edited images, ready for download.

  • This session can include more classic poses on request.
